About

Welcome to The Food Worthian!

Yay, you’re here! I’m Amy Dondalski and I’m so glad to have you. I meal plan every week to try new recipes by food bloggers and chefs. I then let you know if they are worthy to make again after weighing flavor and effort. If the dish doesn’t work out, that’s where the magic happens because I get to create my own recipe and share it with you. I go for healthy meals and desserts, but that doesn’t mean I won’t go full-calorie crazy on a couple of dishes. Everyone needs a solidly unhealthy, but soul-satisfying meal sometimes.

About The Food Worthian

I come from two heavily food-focused backgrounds- Cuban and Polish. We love to eat good homemade food. I was raised on flavorful food and sharing food with family and friends to show our love. The first recipe I ever made by myself was hummus. It came from a kid’s show called ZOOM. Bushia, my Polish grandmother, said it was the best hummus she ever had.

I moved from Chicago to Fort Worth, Texas in 2012. I love it here and consider myself a Fort Worthian. There’s a saying for us non-Texas natives: I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!

I started sharing recipes I was cooking on my instagram back in 2014. Then in 2016 I really expanded my cooking skills by trying a new recipe every week. I thought about starting a blog but the time just wasn’t right. Fast forward to 2020. I was contacted by Voyage Dallas to do an interview on my instagram. After I read the interview, I decided it was time to really start the blog. I’m The Food Worthian and I’m so excited to get cooking. Thank you for being here. It means the world to me!

About My Food

I am all about trying new recipes from cookbooks, pinterest and magazines to see if they are worthy of making again. I try at least two new recipes each week at home. I cook all types of cuisines but I make sure they are high quality and filled with wholesome ingredients. You’ll never see me use a can of cream of chicken soup. I would rather spend the extra effort to make a wholesome substitute. I love vegetables and fruits and I frequently make vegetarian meals even though I eat meat. If you ask me to choose between cooking and baking, I can’t do it. I love both and believe both satisfy my soul. My cooking is varied, but Cuban cuisine is my absolute favorite to cook.
